Power distribution and network diagnosis

Mercedes control units rely on stable battery voltage, grounds, fuse distribution, wake-up signals and CAN/LIN communications. A weak battery or intermittent supply can produce multiple unrelated warning messages. Measure resting and cranking voltage, charging output and voltage drop across grounds; then review a complete module scan for which fault occurred first. Inspect water ingress and connector corrosion when indicated. Module replacement should follow verification of power, ground and communication, not precede it.

Repair decisions and verification

Confirm the fault does not return after sleep/wake cycles and verify that coding or battery registration is completed when applicable.

A luxury sedan with many modules may show several unrelated warnings when voltage falls or network communication is interrupted.

How the problem should be evaluated

Test battery health, charging, grounds and power distribution, then examine which modules communicate and when the fault occurs.

Why the model and engine matter: Auxiliary batteries and electrified components vary by year; confirm the fitted architecture.
