Ride-height and suspension diagnosis

Air suspension faults can result from leaking air springs, lines, valve blocks, compressors, height sensors or electrical controls. A vehicle sagging after parking may have an air leak; a vehicle unable to rise may have a compressor or control problem. Measure individual corner heights before and after parking, review pressure and sensor data, and leak-test the correct circuits. AIRMATIC and Active Body Control are not interchangeable systems and require different procedures.

Repair decisions and verification

Confirm ride-height calibration, compressor duty cycle and stable vehicle height after an extended parked period.

Clunks over bumps, vibration or accelerated tire wear can come from control arms, joints, wheel bearings or tires.

How the problem should be evaluated

Inspect steering and suspension under appropriate loading, evaluate tire condition and road-test to isolate the source before recommending alignment or parts.

Why the model and engine matter: 4MATIC drivetrain components can add potential sources of noise.
